Everyone is busy, rushing to make this appointment or that meeting. Not only are people crunched for time, but life comes with many concerns, worries and burdens. At times, it can feel like the world's weight is resting on your shoulders.
Life is rarely, if ever, an easy experience. But we were never promised that it would be that way. Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, did absolutely nothing wrong, and He was still put to death. However, if we change and reorient our focus to eternal and everlasting things, life’s cares and concerns will not seem nearly as important.
In a clip posted on YouTube, Estera beautifully performs “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.” This hymn is a favorite of many and instructs us to examine our priorities in life. Instead of constantly worrying and stressing about tomorrow's meeting or some other burden weighing on our minds, focus more on the things of Christ and eternity.
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of Earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace”
Yes, every day brings its own fresh set of problems and issues. They should not be merely cast aside, neglected and forgotten. But they should not be something that overtakes our life to the point where that’s all we’re concerned about. Worrying about an issue or a problem today seems pointless and unnecessary when thinking of things associated with Christ and eternity.
Matthew 6:33 “But see you first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.”
