One young man’s moving and stunning performance of an Aretha Franklin hit on The Voice earned him cheers and applause from the studio audience and the judges.

The late Aretha Franklin was a beloved artist whose big voice and timeless songs continue to thrill people today. Songs like “A Natural Woman,” “Chain of Fools,” “I Say a Little Prayer” and “Respect” are still in heavy rotation. She didn’t earn the title “Queen of Soul” for nothing.

In a clip posted on YouTube, a contestant on The Voice Australia, Marley Sola, battles for the right to remain on the program. His song of choice, hoping to impress the studio audience but most importantly, the judges, was Aretha’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

It's clear from the song's opening notes that Marley has a ton of musical talent. He sings literally three words and has already won over the studio audience. They let out a collective cheer and applause at the young man’s soulful rendition of the tune.

The judges also don’t mask their thoughts and feelings about Marley’s performance. The camera catches all four of them either smiling or moving their heads along with the beat. Singer Jason Derulo appears to be particularly impressed with the rendition.

And there is certainly plenty to love about Marley’s performance.

He has a beautiful tone to his voice that works perfectly with the soulful song. He also hits and holds a few high notes, something that Aretha Franklin herself was known for doing.

At the end of the performance, the studio audience delivers the young man a thunderous round of applause. Several of the judges even give Marley a standing ovation. One judge is even heard saying, “Beautiful,” in response to what he had just witnessed.

It was a rendition that Aretha would have likely loved.
