Enjoy this throwback clip of ‘There Is A Time’ from The Andy Griffith Show.
This beloved television show aired for eight seasons in the 1960s. It followed the town of Mayberry, specifically Sheriff Andy Taylor and his deputy, Barney Fife.
The show became a cultural phenomenon that has truly stood the test of time. And some of the most memorable moments include the appearance of The Darlings.
The Darlings were a bluegrass family band that was feature in six different episodes. And one of their most famous songs is ‘There Is A Time.’
“There is a time for love and laughter
The days will pass like summer storms
The winter wind will follow after
But there is love and love is warm”
While The Darlings weren’t a real band, The Dillards definitely were. Brothers Doug and Rodney Dillard played in the band on television and together, in real life. And the beautiful vocal talent belongs to Charlene Darling, portrayed by Maggie Peterson.
This musical group always livened up the show and gave us some incredible moments that go down in television history. Just listen to this clip of ‘There Is A Time’ and be transported back in time.
“There is a time when leaves are fallin’
The woods are gray the paths are old
The snow will come when geese are callin’
You need a fire against the cold”
In these uncertain times, it is so refreshing to go back to the ‘good ole days.’ And Mayberry is definitely a place that we will always miss.
