The modern classic ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ is one of the most popular Christmas songs of all time. But this powerful song took over 7 years to perfect. The idea for the song came to Mark Lowry when he was writing a Christmas program for Jerry Falwell in the early 80s. He started thinking about what he would ask Mary if she was sitting right in front of him and how she must have felt. That’s when he put together the questions that eventually became the lyrics we know and love today.

‘Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God’

In 1991, once the lyrics were complete, Mark asked his good friend Buddy Greene to write music to accompany his words. It only took 30 minutes for Buddy to compose the iconic music for ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ Today, Mark is joined by his brother, Mike, for a special stripped down rendition of this famous song. When you hear them beautifully belt out the words, you will be reminded of the real reason for the season.

Luke 1:30-31 The angel said to her, “Mary, do not be afraid. You have found favor with God. See! You are to become a mother and have a Son. You are to give Him the name Jesus.
