Country music superstar and American Idol judge Luke Bryan sings of faith and family in the official music video for his moving ‘Jesus ‘Bout My Kids’ song.

Without a doubt, being a parent is one of life’s greatest blessings. It’s also the most significant role with a tremendous amount of responsibility that anyone can take on. Parents are supposed to love, protect and provide for the children the Lord has blessed them with. Any shirking of responsibility in the parenting department can and usually does result in massive negative repercussions down the road.

While parents are charged with protecting and providing for their children, they are also to be the people who introduce them to and teach them about the Lord. Regular church attendance, praying before meals and talking about and reading the Bible together are just a few ways to start building that foundation of faith in a child’s life.

In the official music video for his song, ‘Jesus ‘Bout My Kids,’ Luke sings about talking to his children about Christ when they were little. He would share Christ’s message of love and forgiveness with his youngsters, which he admits is precisely what his parents did when he was a child.

However, every person has free will and will ultimately make their own decisions—whether to follow Christ or turn away from Him. Parents can only do so much, and then the child is responsible. But, as Luke sings, Mom and Dad can still pray and reach out to the Lord on behalf of their child.

The song’s chorus is beautiful and perfectly expresses this idea.

“I used to talk to my kids about Jesus

How He lived and died and rose again

I used to talk to my kids about Jesus

Now I talk to Jesus ‘bout my kids”

What a beautiful, moving and powerful song about a parent’s prominent and changing role in their child’s relationship with Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 22:6 “If a child is trained up in the right way, even when he is old he will not be turned away from it.”
