Superstar Kanye West leaves the controversy behind for a step into the gospel realm with his latest film ‘Jesus Is King.’ Directed by Nick Knight, this 30-minute film follows one of Kanye and his Sunday Service.

After years in the spotlight, the rapper and media mogul has seen his fair share of scrutiny. But in 2019, Kanye formed a gospel-rap group called Sunday Service.

The talented ensemble would perform Christian favorites and gospel covers of some of Kanye’s previous hits. Touring around the country, Sunday Service performs every single Sunday, including bringing God to thousands of people at events such as Coachella.

Now, we are getting an inside look at this monumental movement with Kanye’s latest film and simultaneous gospel album release.

The movie’s website explains the premise. “Filmed in the summer of 2019, “JESUS IS KING” brings Kanye West’s famed Sunday Service to life in the Roden Crater, visionary artist James Turrell’s never-before-seen installation in Arizona’s Painted Desert. This one-of-a-kind experience features songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition along with new music from his forthcoming album “JESUS IS KING” — all presented in the immersive sound and stunning clarity of The IMAX Experience®.”

While we all may have our own opinions on hip-hop star Kanye West, there’s no doubt that he’s sharing God with many who may never have heard of Him any other way. ‘Jesus Is King’ is set to be released in IMAX theaters on October 25th along with his latest album of the same name.
