It was a heartwarming moment captured on camera when this dad with dementia is overcome with emotion at a stuffed animal.
Dementia is a heartbreaking disease that strips someone of their memories. Our memories are what make up who we truly are and it is devastating to have those slip away. It can be even harder to watch a loved one battle this horrible disease.
You are forced to watch someone that you once knew so well lose their personality and spark. It can be so hard to weather this storm but there are moments that make all of the tough times seem to fade away.
That is exactly what happened to this one family when they recently visited their 90-year-old at the nursing home. The whole family was there, except for beloved family dog.
The animal was not allowed at the nursing home so the relatives decided to give their dad the next best thing. They surprised him with a stuffed animal dog for him to hold and talk to you.
In this sweet clip, you can see the father gently patting the stuffed animal and speaking to it. There is so much emotion wrapped up into this short video and it will definitely get those tears flowing.
Psalm 119:48-52 “48 I reach out for your commands, which I love, that I may meditate on your decrees. 49 Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. 50 My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. 51 The arrogant mock me unmercifully, but I do not turn from your law. 52 I remember, LORD, your ancient laws, and I find comfort in them.”
