Chasing dreams and going after goals can be a scary proposition. That is why it’s nice to have someone in your corner who believes in your potential. One contestant on American Idol has exactly that and now he’s on his way to Hollywood!
Matt Wilson is a 21-year-old day care worker from Buffalo, New York. Prior to his performance, Matt mentioned that his wife was the person who pushed him to audition. She believed in him and in his God-given talent.
Despite his nerves, Matt walked in and gave a beautiful performance of Giveon’s “For Tonight.”
Instantly after Matt began singing, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were hooked. They loved Matt’s dazzling and soulful rendition. They shared knowing glances and exchanged smiles among one another throughout Matt’s audition.
After the conclusion of his performance, the judges were effusive in their praise of Matt’s singing.
“Sky’s the limit, my friend,” Lionel said.
“It sounds like it’s already mixed and mastered,” Katy said. “I’m just so glad that your wife said, ‘Baby, give it one more shot.’ You’ve got something.”
“Matt, that was one of the most genuine, honest, real performances I’ve ever witnessed,” Luke said.
Seconds later, the judges brought in the woman who pushed and encouraged Matt to audition, his wife Melisa.
“He has so much talent and I just want the world to see that,” Melisa said.
Matt, while holding hands with Melisa, received three yes votes from the judges.
Lionel, Katy and Luke informed the husband and wife that they are both going to Hollywood.
Matt is one big step closer to achieving his dreams. It’s all because one person believed in him and was a voice of encouragement and love even when he did not have confidence in himself.
