A North Carolina couple married 82 years shares their ‘secret’ for a successful marriage. D.W. Williams and Willie Williams have a lot to celebrate.
D.W. recently turned 103 and Willie is 100. Family and friends recently gathered at First Mayfield Memorial Baptist Church to honor the couple and their big milestones. These two have truly seen it all during their lifetime from the Great Depression, multiple wars and even the invention of the Internet.
Throughout the decades, D.W. and Willie have remained committed to one another and their marriage. But the secret to this incredible life isn’t really a secret at all. Many people would say that marriage takes communication, trust, and various other traits. But The Williams put everything into simple terms and it’s advice we should all take.
Willie admits, “I don’t have no secret for that, just be nice to each other.” These two have truly been an inspiration to everyone around them. In fact, their granddaughter remarked, “they are each other’s best friend.”
In this day and age, it is becoming more and more rare to see marriages that last through the years. So, it is refreshing to see this couple being celebrated and admired. D.W. and Willie have truly lived a lifetime and they’re continuing to lean on each other every single day. This is definitely a couple that we should look up and strive to emulate.
Ephesians 5:25: “For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her.”
