In this performance on America’s Got Talent quarterfinals, Archie Williams sings the Stevie Wonder classic, ‘Love’s In Need of Love Today.’
“It’s that love’s in need of love today
Don’t delay, send yours in right away
Hate’s goin’ round, breaking many hearts
Stop it please before it’s gone too far”
As we’ve seen in his original AGT audition, Archie is a talented 59-year-old with a tragic backstory. He explained on the show that he was wrongly convicted for a crime he didn’t commit and served 37 years in prison as a result.
In this performance, Archie sings the song in a way that is so moving and captivating. He puts soul into the song, and the cry in his voice when he sings this is so deeply felt.
“Wow! I keep watching it over and over! What an awesome performance!” writes one person on YouTube about the video. “The imperfections were perfect! They made it real with raw emotion! I hope he wins!”
“There is no question it is a tragedy what happened to this man and that pain comes through his vocals,” comments another person on YouTube. “Just take a minute, sit back and think of how you would feel all those years locked up knowing you were innocent. You just can’t fathom something like that. I know I can’t. Good on him for moving on and all the best to him, he deserves it.”
God bless Archie as he continues on with this AGT competition!
