America’s Got Talent alum Evie Clair leads us in worship with the beautiful words of ‘Come Thou Fount.’
The hymn was written in 1757 by the 18th-century pastor Robert Robinson. He was just 22 years old, at the time. The powerful lyrics, which dwell on the theme of divine grace, are based on 1 Samuel 7:12.
“Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.”
You may remember Evie Clair as a contestant on the twelfth season of America’s Got Talent. She tugged at everyone’s heartstrings with an inspiring audition dedicated to her father who was fighting cancer.
Even though she didn’t win the competition, Evie won over America and continues to bless us with secular covers and beloved hymns such as ‘How Great Thou Art.’ Today, she’s sitting at her piano for stunning rendition of ‘Come Thou Fount.’
“Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount, I’m fixed upon it,
Mount of Thy redeeming love.”
In the good times and the bad, remember to turn your eyes upon Jesus and let His light lead the way. We are so blessed to be able to lift our voices and praise His Name with these beautiful words of worship.
Isaiah 40:31 “But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
