91-year-old Julia Tourtellotte became a viral sensation after she dances in the hospital after spinal surgery. Julia has been dancing almost all of her life. In fact, she’s the first to admit that it’s difficult for her to sit still.
She was in her 40s when she took up clogging and, now, she’s teaching lessons at her local senior center. But when a pain in her leg started to slow her down, Julia knew she needed to seek out help. That’s when she turned to Trident Medical Center and met with Dr. Sabino D’Agostino, a neurosurgeon at the hospital.
Julia underwent a cutting-edge robotic spinal surgery to alleviate the pain and get her back into her dancing shoes. Just a few months after the life-changing surgery, Julia returned to the hospital to meet with Dr. D’Agostino.
That’s when she decided to give an impromptu dance lesson right there in the middle of the hallway. Just watch as doctors and staff join in as Julia leads a rousing dance session full of laughter and smiles. It’s obvious that nothing can keep this 91-year-old from living out her passion and there’s no slowing her down any time soon.
This is just another example of how age is just a number. When we continue to move and enjoy the world around us, there is nothing that can hold us down. Julia is such an inspiration to so many around the world and I’m so glad that others are seeing this joyful presence. Who else wants to get up and dance right now?
