One woman who showed off her impressive, mind-blowing dance skills on America’s Got Talent shed tears of joy after achieving one of her dreams.
Most people are simply looking for an opportunity, a chance to demonstrate their skills and talent. Programs like America’s Got Talent, American Idol and The Voice give people longing for just one moment to fulfill their dreams and find out if their gifts and skills measure up.
Erica Coffelt, a 36-year-old certified speech-language pathologist and mother from Reno, Nevada, is a self-taught dancer. Her unexpected and highly inventive hip-hop dance moves shocked and amazed the studio audience and the judges.
However, before her sure-footed audition, Erica admitted she was feeling more than a little nervous. But as the music began playing, all of Erica’s apprehensiveness appeared to go by the wayside. By the end of her up-tempo routine, Erica had everyone in the room on their feet. The audience and the judges loved her dazzling display.
As terrific as her routine was, what happened in the moments before hearing the judges’ feedback was arguably the most surprising of all.
Tears started flooding her eyes, brushing them away as the studio audience gave the young woman a well-deserved standing ovation.
“This has always been my dream,” she said. “And I started doing dances to entertain my daughter during COVID and I just, she loved it, so I just kept going.”
All four judges then went on to shower Erica with compliments, several mentioning how surprised they were at her proficiency in dance. After a display like that, it’s no surprise that Erica received four yes votes.
Then, in a conversation with host Terry Crews, Erica stated what she hopes her children take away from her audition on AGT.
“My whole life, I never thought I’d pursue this, and I just wanted to show my kids that mom never gave up,” Erica said.
Psalm 149:3 “Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises to him with the tambourine and harp.”
