Two women with a unique and close connection turned in a moving, heartfelt performance on America’s Got Talent

Many people who appear together on programs like American Idol, The Voice and America’s Got Talent are brothers, sisters or moms and dads. They are usually family members who perform together. While those performances can make for special moments, the connection that binds them together is not all that unique.

But two women who appeared together on the AGT stage have a mind-blowing and moving story that will forever connect them. In a back-and-forth with the judges, Holly and Kim, who live on opposite sides of the country, revealed that a heart transplant connects them.

Sadly, in 2007, Holly’s son passed away. But Holly’s son was an organ donor. So, her son helped to save the life of Kim’s son. Kim’s child, only 16 days old, received the heart, forever binding the two women together.

But that’s not where the similarities or connection between the two ends.

“The last song I sang to Jake, to say goodbye to him, was “For Good” from the musical Wicked,” Holly said

“And when Beckham was finished with his heart transplant surgery, I wasn’t allowed to hold him,” Kim said. “I could just kind of stroke his head, and the first thing I did when I stroked his head is I sang that song, “For Good,” from Wicked.”

After explaining their touching story to the judges, the two women sang “For Good” together. Their performance made for a powerful and moving moment, which left the studio audience and the judges on their feet. There wasn’t a dry eye in the entire room.

All four judges were moved by the terrific and tear-jerking moment. Howie Mandel called it “probably the most magical moment” he has “ever experienced on America’s Got Talent.”

When it comes time to vote, the two women receive four yes votes.
