A group of baseball players performed a trick that left the batter standing at the plate completely stunned and the crowd of spectators looking on cheering in amazement.
Baseball is a fun, beloved and historic game with many time-honored traditions. It’s a game that has been played and watched by millions for decades. People like Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle and Cal Ripken Jr. have become synonymous with the game. Every season, fans eagerly and faithfully cheer on their team, hoping to give that little extra boost to help them bring home a victory.
However, instead of the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies or others, one team is unlike all the rest. The Savannah Bananas play a different, much less conventional type of baseball. They are basically the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball, performing tricks and other plays normally not seen on the diamond.
In a clip posted on YouTube, three Savannah Bananas players come together and have a short conference on the pitcher’s mounds. It’s seconds later, and all three have come to an agreement on their next course of action. Instead of one pitcher, they have decided to go with three players on the mound.
When it’s time for the next pitch, the three players all wind up at the same time, using the same motion, but only one actually has a ball in his possession. Then a perfect strike is delivered to the plate, completely freezing the batter.
The batter, caught looking at the third strike, is enthusiastically called out by the umpire. In case the crowd or the batter was confused, the umpire motions, once again, for the strikeout. He even throws in a little dance.
But the short, hilarious clip does not end there. One of the three pitchers runs to home plate where he and the catcher reenact the famous pose from the film “Dirty Dancing.”
