A father left all four judges on The Voice mesmerized with his dazzling and soulful cover of Labrinth’s “Beneath Your Beautiful,” causing them to turn their chairs for him.
Musicians and anyone associated with the music industry have likely heard nearly any and every kind of voice. It’s reasonable to think that, at some point, they might become desensitized to remarkable, awe-inspiring performances. They have ears that are better trained than most, able to pick up on certain sounds and techniques.
So, it seems that it would take a lot to get those people to sit up and take notice. Ephraim Owens obviously has that kind of talent and voice. While singing “Beneath Your Beautiful,” the husband and father of one managed to get some of the biggest names in music to turn their chairs for him.
Right from the get-go, the judges recognize Ephraim’s vocal talent. Even before he turns his chair, former One Direction member Niall Horan reacts, pleasantly surprised by the young man’s voice. He says, “Oh.”
But he wasn’t the only one who immediately liked what he heard. Gwen stated that she “liked that.”
When Ephraim reaches the song’s chorus, Niall and Gwen are convinced. Both slam their buttons and turn their chairs for the young man. Seconds later, John Legend turns his chair for the man with the beautiful voice.
Before his performance ends, Reba signals that she also wants Ephraim and his outstanding voice on her team. She also flips her chair around.
If someone were to play the clip, close their eyes and listen to Ephraim’s performance, many would be fooled into believing it was John Legend singing. It’s incredible how similar he sounds to the Grammy Award-winning musician.
During his back-and-forth with the judges, Ephraim mentions that John is, in fact, one of his musical inspirations.
Ephraim is such a talented vocalist that it’s easy to see him going far in the competition.
