A group of talented vocalists, Pentatonix, turned in a marvelous cover of a beloved hit from the 1980s, “Hallelujah.”
The human voice is an astonishing and remarkable part of God’s creation. With the instrument built by the Lord, people can produce beautiful, uplifting and inspiring sounds. However, the human voice used incorrectly can inflict enormous pain. Cutting and sharp words and messages can hurt, sting and maim.
In a video posted on YouTube, Pentatonix, once again, put the beauty of the human voice on full display. The musicians, using only the immense power of their stunning voices, perform Leonard Cohen’s iconic tune “Hallelujah.”
Not only do the five members of the world-renowned a cappella group sing the 80s song, but they also encourage viewers to join in and belt out the lyrics. The clip’s title describes the clip as a “sing-along video.”
Throughout the 4-and-a-half-minute video, while the group members perform in a desert-type location, the song’s lyrics appear on the bottom of the screen.
“Now, I’ve heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
It goes like this, the four, the fifth”
Once again, the group shines, showing off the strength and wonder of their voices. Their rendition of the popular song, which has been covered hundreds of times over the years, has to be considered one of the best.
The group Pentatonix has accumulated worldwide fame for their outstanding vocal performances, most done without the accompaniment of instruments.
On their YouTube channel, which has 20 million subscribers, there are nearly 250 videos of the group performing a variety of tunes. Some of their clips are of them belting out the lyrics to such tracks as Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called to Say I Love You,” the “Ghostbusters” theme song and several Christmas songs.
Psalm 105:2 “Let your voice be sounding in songs and melody; let all your thoughts be of the wonder of his works.”
