One man from Indonesia went on to shock the judges and the studio audience even after Simon Cowell momentarily stopped his audition on America’s Got Talent.
Those who go on and audition for programs like The Voice, American Idol and America’s Got Talent must experience a ton of nerves prior to and during their performances. There is the ever-present fear of failure, not winning over the studio audience and having the judges pick apart your act, telling you what they liked and hated.
One man, 31-year-old Cakra Khan, who has a beautiful and soulful voice, one that fits perfectly with blues music, experienced a rare occurrence during his audition. Cakra was in the middle of his audition, singing “Make it Rain,” when Simon stopped the young man.
Simon’s actions were not appreciated by the studio audience, who began loudly booing the former American Idol judge.
“I think you have a great voice,” Simon said. “I didn’t like the track though. Did you bring another song with you?”
After confirming that he did, in fact, bring a second song, Cakra restarts his audition. This time he sings a track made famous by Bob Marley, “No Woman, No Cry.”
Cakra does not let Simon’s interruption rattle him in the slightest. He goes on to showcase his show-stopping and awe-inspiring voice. The studio audience shouts throughout his audition, resulting in a standing ovation at the conclusion of his performance.
All four judges mentioned how much they adored Cakra’s unique, raspy and bluesy-type voice. Even Simon stated how much he loved the young man’s sound.
“It’s so rare to hear voices like that,” Simon said. “The second song, in getting to know you, makes you more interesting. It makes me feel like you’re more of an artist. I absolutely love your voice.”
All four judges give Cakra four emphatic yes votes, sending him to the next round of the competition.
Psalm 105:2 “Let your voice be sounding in songs and melody; let all your thoughts be of the wonder of his works.”
