Three talented men beautifully performed a beloved and classic song from Celine Dion.
Some singers' voices are so powerful that trying to perform one of their tracks is likely a losing proposition. Musicians better bring it if they are going to take a shot at a tune by Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin or Adele. Those women have the ability to hit and hold notes many people cannot reach.
Another singer who certainly fits in that elite class of musicians is Celine Dion. The popular Canadian singer has enjoyed a highly successful, decades-long career, selling millions of albums and winning Grammys. Regardless of the high mark Celine set, three men, who call themselves GENTRI, performed Celine’s “Because You Loved Me.”
While standing in an empty stairwell, the trio of young men gives a dazzling performance of the massive hit from Celine without any musical accompaniment. Their natural God-given instruments are the only ones at work in the short clip, and it’s an outstanding rendition.
Instead of attempting to match or outdo Celine, the guys make the song their own. They play to their strengths and don’t go for the high and impressive Celine-type high notes. They harmonize beautifully, making for an enjoyable cover of a well-known and loved song.
The guys played their performance smart because if you come for a Celine Dion song, try to match her voice and miss, you’re going to look really bad. They all seemed to know the limits and capabilities of their voices.
On the About section of their YouTube channel, the group states that GENTRI is actually short for “The Gentleman Trio.”
Composed of Brad Robbins, Casey Elliott and Bradly Quinn Lever, GENTRI has performed with a number of well-known artists, including Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth and the band Journey.
Psalm 105:2 “Let your voice be sounding in songs and melody; let all your thoughts be of the wonder of his works.”
