Check out this video of Jimmy Lee Swaggart and Jerry Lee Lewis performing the song ‘Jesus, Hold My Hand.’
“As I travel through this pilgrim land, there is a friend who walks with me
Leads me safely through the sinking sand, it is the Christ at Calvary
This would be my prayer, dear Lord, each day, You help me do the best I can
For I need Thy light to guide me day and night, blessed Jesus, hold my hand
Jesus, hold my hand, for I need Thee every hour
Through this pilgrim land, protect me by Thy power”
What a great performance of this classic song! And how cool it is to see Gospel music from cousins Jimmy Lee Swaggart and Jerry Lee Lewis!
Jerry Lee Lewis was a huge hit in the fifties and known for his wild way with a piano. His rock & roll classics included ‘Great Balls of Fire’ and ‘Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On.’ Very nice to see him using his talents in this video to praise the Lord.
“The one and only Jerry Lee, he still plays a mean piano and he still can sing,” comments one person on YouTube after watching the video. “God is watching over him. God Bless you Jerry Lee and Jimmy Swaggart!”
“Wow. Incredible to see one of the founding fathers of rock and roll singing a Jesus song here in 2022! Praise the Lord, for sure!” writes another person online.
The song ‘Jesus, Hold My Hand’ was written by Albert E. Brumley, who is best known for one of his first songs ‘I’ll Fly Away.’ He wrote more than six hundred songs and was inducted into many halls of fame.
We hope that you enjoyed listening to this rendition of ‘Jesus, Hold My Hand’ today!
For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
