This is a peaceful and stunning performance. Check out this video of 4 men of Collabro who perform “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”
At the start of the song, there is a dark stage with bright orange lights behind the quartet. The light comes on each soloist. As they each sing there is such emotion and depth to their voices. Each singer is unique in pitch and tone.
Then, the group blows us away with their incredible harmonies and vocal blend on the first chorus. Their voices are as smooth as butter. Their four-part chorus is respectable and relaxing.
The way that this group works together as a team is incredible. It is as if one voice is singing many parts. There is such a beautiful tight-knit focus among them. Their message is very encouraging as well. They sing in a compassionate tone with the lyrics that say:
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
This was a Grammy award-winning song in 1970. The lyrics motivate us not to give up, but to persevere. No matter the trials that life has, there is a message of hope and comfort in the storm. These men remind us of that wonderful truth.
As believers in Christ, He does this for us. God’s Spirit is our Comforter and Counselor. Whenever we face hardships, we can overcome them because of the Holy Spirit within us. We can continue running the race of faith, knowing that we are never alone and we always have hope.
“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.” Romans 5:3-4
