It is not every day that you see a musician play his saxophone for cows in a field! But that’s exactly what Rick Hermann did when he decided to put on a jazz concert for the cows in his area.
The idea came to him when he was out for a run with his wife.
“You see these cows, and they always seem to be so curious,” says Rick. “I asked my wife ‘Do you think the cows will enjoy the saxophone?’ She’s like, ‘Let’s go try it.’”
Later, Rick and his family take a walk over to the cows in the field, and Rick starts playing some songs for them on his saxophone.
As soon as the jazzy music starts, the cows are immediately interested! They slowly walk over to where Rick is to take in the sounds that he is playing.
He plays the cows Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely,” George Michael’s “Careless Whisper,” and The Champs’ “Tequila.” What a fun bunch of songs that I’m sure the cows enjoyed!
Rick’s daughter, Erin, filmed the cow concert and posted the video to Twitter. The video garnered lots of positive attention from people online.
“A lot of people have said that they were having a really hard day or that just so many bad things were happening, and this was just a little bit of positivity or boosted their moods,” shares Erin.
It’s great to see a family be playful and have a good time trying out new things together, like playing your saxophone to a bunch of cows! Rick shares that it is great to learn a new skill, try new things, and challenge yourself. Because you never know, something that you try may bring a smile to the faces of a whole lot of people (and cows)!
