The Christmas carol ‘We Three Kings’ was originally written in 1857, but it still remains a staple today. The unmistakable deep sound combined with beautiful imagery truly makes this song a Christmas classic.

‘We three kings of orient are,
Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder star.’

As soon as you hear these iconic lyrics, a picture of Bethlehem and the manger scene comes to mind. The three wise men traveled far to lay gifts at the feet of Jesus, who would one day rule us all.

‘Oh, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide with thy perfect light.
Born a King on Bethlehem’s plain,
Gold I bring to crown him again
King for ever, ceasing never
Over us all to reign.’

Today, Kaoma Chende is performing this special song a cappella. And to make this rendition even more powerful, Chende is also singing all 4 parts himself. Standing alone at the front of a church, this talented vocalist belts out the familiar words. There’s no doubt that Chende is giving all the praise to God and it’s absolutely stunning to hear this performance. What an incredible way to spread the good news of our Savior’s birth.

Matthew 2:10-11 “When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.”
