“Surrounded (fight My Battles)” reminds us that even in the midst of trials, we are truly surrounded by God. The worship song was written by Elyssa Smith of Texas-based Upperroom.
“There’s a table that You’ve prepared for me
In the presence of my enemies
It’s Your body and Your blood You shed for me
This is how I fight my battles”
When we feel completely overwhelmed by life’s battles there is something truly peaceful in knowing that the Father has gone before us and that the victory is already His. That doesn’t mean there aren’t times that we don’t feel like we are sitting in the middle of the “lion’s den” but we have comfort in the promise that we are not alone – God is with us!
“In the valley I know that You’re with me
And surely Your goodness and Your mercy follow me
So my weapons are praise and thanksgiving
This is how I fight my battles”
It’s so easy to be caught up in the fear, worry, and frustration of the situations around it. Feeling overwhelmed and helpless has affected each and every one of us at some point. We need to remind ourselves of God’s promises that He goes before us; when our eyes are on Him, the battle is already won! Allow God to orchestrate your path and guide you. Ultimately He wants us to live a life without fear and worry!
Psalm 139:5: “You have surrounded me on every side, behind me and before me, and You have placed Your hand gently on my shoulder.”
